English

In English, students learn about the English language, how it works and how to use it effectively. It helps create confident communicators, imaginative thinkers and informed citizens. The study of English helps young people develop the knowledge and skills needed for education, training and the workplace. They learn to speak, listen, view, read and write effectively.

Three outcomes provide the basis of the W.A. Curriculum: English- Language, Literature and Literacy. Students are actively engaged in the Seven Steps for Writing program to develop their writing skills. Students from Year 2-6 participate in the school’s “Speak Up” program which involves presenting a prepared talk to the class. Literacy Pro and Reading Eggs are programs used across the school to develop comprehension skills. Book Week in Term 3 is always celebrated with an amazing dress up day.
