Hillarys Primary School has a strong team of parents and school staff who contribute to creating a great school community and a wonderful learning environment for our children. Our Parents & Citizens aims to support the school to provide a standard of education and facilities to your children that would otherwise not be available if we were to rely solely on Government funding. P&C meetings are held regularly throughout the year and meetings are advertised at least 7 days in advance. Newcomers are always welcome and we hope you will become an active member of your child’s school community.
We aim to raise funds by offering events which will be enjoyed by our whole school community. Recent examples of this have been the HPS Fete, Movie Night, School Lapathon, cake stalls, sausage sizzles, Mothers and Fathers Day events and much more.
Thanks to the efforts of our fundraising committees the P&C has recently been able to realise the goal of providing air conditioning to every Yr 1-6 classroom. This, coupled with the provision of evaporative air cooling to the new Early Childhood building ensures every child is cool and comfortable over the hot summer days.
We are looking forward in the future to supporting the educational needs of the children by fundraising for classroom equipment. You can click the link above to view our recent P&C Newsletters and read about some of the things happening at your school.
The P&C operates the School canteen and employs a Canteen Supervisor, however, we rely on parent volunteers to make this very important service as affordable as possible.
Is the P&C for me?
If you want to make friends, have fun and feel part of the school community all while improving your child’s experience at Hillary P.S , then join the P&C. If you would like the opportunity to influence and be part of the decision making process at your school then your P&C is for you. You will have the chance to share any expertise you have with others, meet other parents and teachers and get to know your principal. Download and complete the P&C Membership form and return it to the school office with 20c This covers membership for the year and allows you to vote.
P&C Association Annual General Meeting
An AGM is held once a year in February or March. The date of the meeting is advertised and all P&C members receive written notice to attend at least 7 days in advance. An AGM is a General Meeting with 2 extra annual functions –
- The presentation of the P&C Associations audited financial report
- The election of Office Bearers and Executive Committee Members
Every year at the AGM P&C Association Office Bearer, Executive Committee and Sub-Committee positions become vacant. Members may nominate themselves for any of the P&C Associations vacant positions by completing a P&C Officer Bearer nomination form and submitting it to the P&C Secretary. Outgoing members may stand for re-election.
2016 P&C Voluntary Contribution
One of the main roles of the P&C Association is to provide the school with additional educational resources and materials which enrich the experiences of the students.
To assist us with this and help to cover our P&C Associations operational obligations we are requesting that parents pay an Annual P&C Contribution of $20 per child.
Collection of the contribution is undertaken by the schools administration, on our behalf. You will see the P&C Voluntary Contribution itemised on your child’s school statement.
Your payment should be made to the school, as they transfer the monies received to the P&C Association every quarter. The P&C contribution, whilst voluntary, is regarded as vital to ensure the forward progression of the school and the P&C Association.
